Why everyone keeps coming back.

Situated elegantly on Corso Giacomo Matteotti in the heart of Milan, Sant Ambroeus Milano is a quintessential Italian restaurant that charms both locals and travelers with its authentic yet refined culinary offerings. Known for catering to discerning palates, this eatery effortlessly blends traditional Milanese flavors with a polished dining experience steeped in old-world elegance.

The menu here is a celebration of true Italian gastronomy, with standout dishes that delight the senses. Brunch enthusiasts are drawn to the French Toast Sant Ambroeus, a pan brioche imbued with plump raisins, crowned by fresh berries, drizzled with maple syrup, and served alongside luscious Chantilly cream. It’s no wonder visitors like A S hail this as “a breakfast experience like no other,” praising the panettone French toast as a “true masterpiece” that delivers perfect harmony in every bite.

Egg lovers will appreciate the variety offered under Le Uova, whether it’s the fluffy texture of the STRAPAZZATE (scrambled eggs), the silky elegance of IN CAMICIA (poached eggs), or the delicate simplicity of ALLA COQUE (soft-boiled eggs), all crafted with care to highlight fresh, quality ingredients.

Complementing the main dishes are thoughtfully prepared sides like the PURE DI PATATE (creamy mashed potatoes) and the healthy, vibrant VERDURE AL FORNO (oven-roasted vegetables), which add the perfect balance of textures and flavors to your meal.

The dining atmosphere radiates warmth and sophistication. Guests often mention the attentive and friendly service that subtly elevates the experience without being intrusive. Nicole Higgins recounts a touching moment when staff went above and beyond to celebrate her son’s upcoming birthday, reflecting the genuine care embedded in the restaurant’s ethos. Meanwhile, Victor Bao’s remark about the “old world elegance” of the service and ambiance reinforces the timeless charm that Sant Ambroeus exudes.

For those who appreciate subtlety and balance in their culinary journey, dishes like the delicate Vitello Tonnato and perfectly executed risotto come highly recommended. The fresh red prawn pasta has also won fans with its vibrant flavors and impeccable presentation—proof of the kitchen’s commitment to quality and refinement.

True to its reputation, Sant Ambroeus Milano is not just a place to dine but to savor an experience—a sensory voyage through classic Italian flavors presented with understated elegance. Whether you are indulging in a leisurely brunch or a memorable lunch, this establishment invites you to pause, enjoy, and be spoiled by its timeless culinary treasures.

One of my favorite breakfast spots in Milan, I simply can't resist stopping by every time I'm in town. Their signature dish—the panettone french toast—is a true masterpiece. Every bite comes together in perfect harmony, making it an absolutely irresistible and delicious treat. Truly, a breakfast experience like no other!

Such a lovely lunch with my 12 year old. I mentioned before the visit when booking the reservation that it was his first trip to Milan and would be his 13th birthday the following week. So the brought him a little cake after lunch. Service, food and atmosphere were wonderful.

The food was delicious, not too salty, just perfect. The service was astonishing warming and kind. The waiter at our table was very caring if we were satisfied with our dishes. We were very happy with everything. Highly recommend the Vitello Tonnato and risotto. We had Sbagliato and it was great. The fried seafood was also good, but a bit too oily.

A classic institution in Milan. I’ve wanted to try this place for very long, and finally took the chance when in Milano. The service, amtmosphere and vibes were giving old world elegance. Food was all very neat, plated elegantly, but had quite subtle tastes. Quite expensive on the other hand, for such simple dishes. Our favourite was the red prawn pasta, so fresh and well balanced. I would recommend this place if you’re looking for an elegant cafè experience in Milan, but perhaps for a gastronomical one.

Sant Ambroeus — since 1936, and still perfect. The very first place I came to with my husband in Milan, and since then, for six years, a must for lunch or dinner every time we’re in town. Impeccable service, and the food? Always a ten. Named after Sant Ambroeus — that’s how Milan lovingly calls Saint Ambrose, its patron and protector. This place captures his spirit — proud, timeless, and deeply Milanese.

Visiting Bar Sant’Ambroeus on Saint Ambrose Day is truly the place to be in Milan. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a festive brunch or savor what is arguably the best panettone in the city on Milan’s most iconic holiday. The atmosphere embodies genuine Milanese spirit, combining tradition with a refined, elegant setting. Every detail feels thoughtfully curated, and the authentic service adds an extra layer of warmth and sophistication to the experience. Whether you’re a local celebrating the city’s patron saint or a visitor looking to immerse yourself in Milan’s culture, Bar Sant’Ambroeus offers a quintessential and elevated Milanese moment—a must on December 7th.

An absolute Milanese classic that fully lives up to its reputation. Santa Ambroeus delivers timeless elegance, impeccable service, and truly outstanding food. The pastas are beautifully executed—perfectly cooked, rich yet balanced, and deeply comforting in the way only Italian classics can be. The cotoletta is a standout: golden, crisp on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and generously sized—simply perfection. The vitello tonnato is equally memorable, with delicate slices of veal paired with a silky, flavourful tuna sauce that’s refined and perfectly seasoned. From the polished atmosphere to the consistently excellent dishes, Santa Ambroeus is a must-visit in Milan. A place you’ll want to return to again and again.
